WWKIP Day

Fil de BabacoolTänään vietettiin julkineulomispäivää Jyväskylässä.
Neulottiin.
Puhuttiin. Paljon.
Kuunneltiin puolella korvalla poliitikkojen palopuheita, kun satuttiin istumaan Speaker's Cornerin vieressä.
Miespoliitikot tulivat juttelemaan, naiskansanedustaja ei.
Ei ole vaalivuosi.
Miespoliitikko mainitsi meidät jopa puheenvuorossaan. Kiittävään sävyyn.
Miespoliitikko esittää Elvistä latinaksi. Hän esiintyy elokuussa Jyväskylässä pidettävässä latinankielisessä seminaarissa.
Seminaarin mielenkiintoisin luennon nimi näyttäisi olevan: Selkä paskana ja sama latinaksi.
Pieni off topic.
Toinen miespoliitikko tarjosi meille ilmaiset kahvit ja jäätelöt.

Jee, näillä saa ilmaiset kahvit! Ja jätskiä!Ihmeteltiin polttariporukoita.

The weather was ideal for the World Wide KIP day in Jyväskylä. We sat in a parc, near the Speaker's Corner were the local politicians and one member of parliament gave some short speeches. We noticed a man, skiing on the street, dressed in a pink dress. And we did get noticed, even in one of the speeches. And we were given free coffee and icecream tickets by the organisers of the Speaker's Corner. One of the speakers, by the way, was Dr. Ammondt, or the Latin Elvis, as he is also called. There will be a Latinists' conference in Jyväskylä in August, and he will be performing there. The lectures have interesting names like My back is shit and the same in Latin.

But I'm diverging here. What we did today was to knit a project that we have kept secret so far: a knitted graffiti for the Finnish Crafts Museum. The museum contacted me in April, asking me if our knitting group would be interested in making a graffiti for their permanent exhibition. Of course we were. And now the project is almost finished. I'll let you know when it will be on display in the museum. From the start, we decided to let all the flowers bloom in the graffiti and gave free hands to everyone to explore and realise their artistic potential. I have used a lot of my handspun yarns for the project. I've also used yarns that I've got as an exchange, like the handspun yarn in the first picture that I used to crochet the letters with and that I got from Babacool, France.
