Chain blog post

[In English only]

Rineke, a Dutch blogmate of mine, dared me to this chain blog thing (a wonderful idea, in fact). Here are the rules:

This is a knitting chain blog post. What you should do if you read this is the following:
1. Copy this text including the questions below in a post on your own blog, and add one question by yourself. If the total number of questions on the list exceeds 10, get rid of the top question on the list. Include a link to your blog to your own thought up question. Do not include other peoples’ answers to the questions.
2. The question you think up should be controversial (it’s up to you to decide what that is), but adhere to netiquette, so nothing offensive, please!
3. Include the answer to all the questions incl. your own in a PS to your posting text.

Otherwise, no rules. You can tag specific bloggers to answer the questions but knitters can also just take up the challenge when they feel challenged enough by reading the chain blog post. You can change the picture if find a better one; if you use the original, keep the reference to their website. You can add comments to the questions and there’s no limit to the length of your answers, nor of the amount of blog readers you tag. If you do take up the challenge you could leave a comment on the blog where you saw it.

Needless to say, this chain has started in 1976 in a small rural village in the Andes mountains. Do not break the chain! Knitters who read this and do not take the challenge of answering will turn into something like this:

Questions:
1. Have you ever considered to knit while sitting on the toilet (so-called ‘knitting in private’?(question by tingletangle)

No, never. I'm very fast when it comes to "going there". Luckily I haven't had any food poisonings lately, either.

2. Have you ever considered killing someone with your knitting needles? (question by Knitting Cow)

PS my answer: Yes, many times, a passive-aggressive person that I am. The targets would mostly be my bosses and other persons that I feel treat me badly. To be on the sure side (it wouldn't be very nice for my family nor myself if I got convicted of a real murder), I have to carry only bamboo needles on my way to work, since I like to knit on the bus. Once we had a dress party at my previous work (a library). I dressed up very colourfully as a Haitian lady. I knitted (or crocheted? - probably crocheted because I've always been better at crochet) a small black voodoo doll and played with it the whole night sticking sharp pins into it, thinking it was my boss ;) Nobody noticed the doll since I had so much jewellery to go with the costume!

This reminds of still another related story. My cousin had to make a stuffed doll at school at the tender age of 13 or so. When she was finished with it, by impulse, she stuck a sharp knitting needle thru the heart of the poor doll. She was almost expulsed from school because of that! As it happened, their arts&crafts teacher, an elderly lady, had a habit of scratching her sculp through her chignon with a knitting needle. Probably she took my cousin's act as a direct threat to herself.

By the way, if you're interested, there's a very nice model for a voodoo doll at the AntiCraft.

I don't really know if that's a controversial question, but it was the only one that came to my mind. Now I have to think of readers who write in English... Well, Tina, Heli the Villasukka, Lene, AnneV, Marjut, Ziina: consider yourselves tagged!!!

Oops, I almost forgot:

Hai Pirkko!
Many thanks for the compliments on my knitted portfolio!

I adopted Rineke`s chainmail as you did, and I like to follow it. Your question is confronting: turning it around: I´m allways glad that I do not have my knitting needles with me when being with someone I´d love to kill....My chainmail is adopted too, by Tijm (click in my blog on `Kantsteek en co` in the row of blogs I like) She added a very good question!

Good answer, Froukje :) I think that's actually what I think, too. Marjut added a question about fetish knitting; her blog is at: http://www.katajala.net/marjut/neuleet/blog/

Thanks for your comment at my blog. I read all the stories about knitting in public and I feel connected with all the knitters how had the same reactions as me.
