My tapestry crochet vest has been ready for some time already. My own design, so definitely unique. The pattern is ultra simple: a square with vertical slots for sleeves. The collar and the "rib" at the front have been crocheted also. I placed the buttons so that I can wear the vest asymmetrically but I could have placed them in a more traditional way as well. The vest can be buttoned up completely or worn so that the wrong side shows, as here. The yarn has been dyed by hand by Johannes and looks very much like indigo-dyed yarn.
Johanneksen Pellavan käsinvärjätty lanka näyttää aivan kasviväreillä värjätyltä.
Rineke asked if tapestry crochet is popular in Finland. I would not say so. I haven't seen many tapestry crochet projects in other Finnish blogs lately. But it is part of the Finnish crafts heritage and a very interesting and versatile technique.
