I have a spinning wheel!!! My mother's old friends lent me their wheel for an unspecified time. They were impressed that someone still wants to learn to spin. And it's not just any old spinning wheel but a 150-year old beauty. I call her "Iita" (Ida), according to the original owner. Here's my mum spinning.
So far, I've practised spinning with some roving only. Being so very old and having had a turbulent life, Iita is a bit tricky to handle. The cord keeps on slipping down every few seconds because the wheel is no longer straight (that's me in the picture holding the wheel, by the way). I don't know how to fix it. Spinning with Iita is certainly no work for the impatient.
Despite the little difficulties, my mind is racing with wild ideas of new designer yarns we could make together, me and my Iita...
