Jokin aika sitten uhosin tekeväni koirista kintaita. No, tein silloin yhden ja vasta tänä iltana sain valmiiksi sille parin. Koirankarvalanka ei aivan riittänyt koko lapasiin, vaan täytyi lisätä vähän muutakin itsekehrättyä. Tuo ihanan räiskyvän värinen lanka on Tytön värjäämää. Olen varma, että meidän koiratkin mielellään luovuttivat karvojaan, kun tietävät, kenelle nuo lapaset pukki vie.
Otin samalla kuvan rullatelineestä, jonka sain vähän aikaa sitten. Rullateline on englanniksi "lazy Kate", mikä on aika kiva nimi ("laiska Kaisa"). Nyt minulla on rukki, rullateline ja vyyhdinpuu (ehkä siitäkin kuva joskus). Jos jotain kaipaisin, niin muutama vararulla olisi hyvä olla olemassa ja sellainen kokoontaitettava vyyhtiteline, että keriminen sujuisi vähän sukkelammin kuin tuolien kanssa taiteillen.
A couple of months ago I told how I was going to make mittens out of our dogs. Well, tonight I finally finished the mittens. There was not quite enough of dog hair yarn, so I had to add some of my other handspun yarns. The cheerful brown-red-blue yarn was one of the first yarns that Girl painted. I'm sure that our dogs don't mind losing a bit of hair now that they know who very special person is going to get these mittens on Christmas Eve.
The picture also shows my "new" lazy kate. Now I have a spinning wheel, a niddy-noddy and a lazy kate. All I still need is a couple of spare bobbins and an umbrella swift. Then my spinning workshop would be perfect.
Vielä sananen neuleblogien viime villityksestä eli kasvojentunnistusohjelmasta. Saattepahan samalla mielikuvan siitä, miltä Neulova Lehmä näyttää (tuota lehmän kuvaa ohjelma ei muuten hyväksynyt, höh).
Aika tuoreella värikuvalla löytyi yhtälyyksiä seuraavien henkilöiden kanssa: Claudia Cardinale 62 %, Julie Andrews 59 %, Drew Barrymore, Isabel Allende, Meg Ryan, ja Cameron Diaz vielä yli 50 %. Mustavalkokuvalla: Kirsten Dunst, Audrey Tautou ja Emma Watson (!) ylsivät 50 %:iin, Shirley Temple (!!) ei ihan. Juliette Binoche oli myös listassa. Nana Mouskouri ja Tina Turner sentään jäivät 40 %:iin. Joko kuva alkaa hahmottua? Lopuksi kuva silmälasit päässä: Elton John, John Lennon ja muutama muu uros. Eli Neulova Lehmä onkin Kehräävä Sonni?!! Repikää siitä huumoria.
The latest rage in the FennoBlogLandia seems to be this face recognition demo. I tried it with a few photos, so you can have a better idea of my real face (they didn't accept the cow face on this blog, which was pretty promising actually). But here are the results with three different photos. First a quite recent colour shot: Claudia Cardinale 62%, Julie Andrews 59%, Drew Barrymore, Isabel Allende, Meg Ryan, and Cameron Diaz still above 50%. Then a black-and-white shot from a few years back: Kirsten Dunst, Audrey Tautou and Emma Watson (not so many years back, however!) reached a 50% likeness, Shirley Temple (!!) fell just under. Juliette Binoche was also included. The likeness with Nana Mouskouri and Tina Turner remained under 40%. You beginning to get the picture? Then the final try, with my glasses on: Elton John (over 60%), John Lennon and a couple of other studs along those lines. So, does this mean that Knitting Cow is in reality Knitting Bull?!!! Think about it.

The dog yarn mittens look so fluffy and warm! Still havent't started learning to spin (only have about 50 g of each dog's hair combed out...).But that is on top of my to do list! ;-)))
50 g is a lot! Well, depends of course on what you're going to do with it. I used only one third of dog hair and two thirds of Finnwool for the yarn I made. It's wonderfully soft, almost like angora. And it sheds, but so does real angora yarn, too ;-)
